    not suitable for senior citizens!

    I was looking for a smartphone for a senior citizen who had previously only known dumphones. I was excited about the simplified operating system. But the reality was different. The senior citizen had great difficulty with it. Because the system was completely different from the dumphone. The difficulties:

    - Writing: even in landscape mode with Doro keyboard, she made many typing errors. However, this has improved a lot over time. Attention: there is a bug: you have to use the German keyboard, because it doesn't work with Swiss.

    - When she wants to send a message, she doesn't get the idea to press the "Send" button on the home screen because she still expects a SMS button (like on the Dumbphone).

    -I have assigned a shortcut on the home screen to "Contacts" because she doesn't understand that if she wants to save a new number, she has to press the "Show" button.

    -She of course wants to send Whatsapp pictures via MMS, but in the "Send>Send picture or video">List of pictures" no Whatsapp media appear. Then she complains she can't send pictures and starts doubting herself. (Workaround: Shortcut Gallery on the home screen, switch the Gallery settings to "Show all pictures", then the Whatsapp pictures also appear there. Then select picture and send via "I want" menu).

    -You can't protect the settings. I don't know whether the senior citizen changes everything herself or whether the system switches itself to other settings, but probably both. In any case, it is annoying when the wrong keyboard suddenly appears with keys that are far too small.

    - The manual is only available in digital form. But the senior citizen wanted a printed version.


    Conclusion:
    I would not buy the Doro phone again. A normal entry-level mobile phone with a launcher for seniors or with an already existing simple interface would have been better for the senior citizen.

    • Confusing operating system, very different from the Dumbphone
    • Settings cannot be protected.

    Would buy again anytime and for this price

    I think Doro is great for older people or those who have never used a smartphone before.... it's very easy to use and with a little practice everyone can do it! Have fun with it !

    A very ideal smartphone, especially for senior citizens to start with.

    • Good help menu with easy entry and redirection to the apps
    • Simple and individual settings with clear presentation
    • The most important steps are quickly explained and the operation is quickly grasped. Let's go!

    Contra

    • Charging station for older people rather a knot. Direct charging with the enclosed cable is easier.
