I equipped the whole household with Denon receivers plus Heos speakers in October 2018. Since then, I have lived with individual rooms being muted for several months and spent several days reconnecting them to the network. So again today; before the holidays all the devices were reconnected. After the holidays, all over again (possibly because Wifi was off the network). New rooms cannot be grouped at the moment.
The app hasn't really been updated for years. It feels like tinkering.
Because I'm dealing with this right now: reminds me of software competence Tesla vs. ID4/VW. Today, like the masses, I would opt for Sonos. Sometimes the No. 1 is the No. 1 for some reason.
There were critical voices in this direction even back then. I shouldn't have ignored them.

Fun, beautiful, differentiated sound, performs very well in the large living room with open kitchen. A Heos 1 complements the sound in the kitchen as a "tweeter", the volume is provided by the Heos 7.
Should definitely be placed on a stand. Without a stand it sounded like nothing! With a stand, the highly praised sound unfolded.
Unfortunately, the function is not always completely reliable. When music is playing, everything runs perfectly and the Heos is reliably recognised by the app. But it happens again and again that you have to switch the box off and on so that it is recognised by the app before listening to music (therefore 1 star deduction).
Simple equaliser with bass and treble tones. An additional middle control would be desirable.
The many connection options are a big plus. Even listening to music via USB connection (stick) works perfectly when the content is loaded. This requires a few minutes each time the stick is plugged in. If you leave the stick plugged in, the content is immediately available.
Significant latency between picture and sound with Bluetooth and WLAN (even if only the Heos 7 is used without Heos 1). No latency with cable connection (3.5mm jack).
No on/off switch, must theoretically always be in standby or disconnected from power.
Physical volume controls on the speaker are handy, so you don't always have to open the app.
Integration with other Heos speakers in the system usually works very well.
