Lots of power, but extremely loud in 2in1 mode

Technically a very good notebook, robustly built and very fast. Unfortunately, it is ridiculously loud in tent and tablet mode. As soon as you flip the screen over, the fan immediately turns up and you can still hear it quite clearly at a distance of 10m. If you turn the screen back to laptop mode, the fan immediately stops blowing again. This is therefore a reproducible design error. At meetings, in quiet offices and at presentations, the hoover noise is very annoying and, depending on the environment, also quite embarrassing. The only workaround is to use the laptop only in laptop mode. If I had known this beforehand, I would have bought the much cheaper XPS without the 2in1 function.

    Pro

    • A lot of power
    • Solid workmanship
    • High screen luminosity
    • No bloatware

    Contra

    • Extremely loud in Tablet/Tent mode
    • A little heavy for a convertible
    • Only USB/Thunderbolt interfaces, needs many adapters

    No buy recommendation

Technically, the device is in good shape...unfortunately, I only found out afterwards that the wireless card is inferior....
Result: slow WiFi, interruptions again and again, after 6 months 1st time in the repair!!...known
    XPS problem.
I can't recommend the XPS to anyone...what good is a laptop today that struggles with wifi :(

Despite the high price a huge flop

I have had the device for almost 1.5 years now. Unfortunately, the device is not satisfactory at all. After less than a year, the SSD went down in the middle of operation (blue screen and then dead, had to be replaced). It has various illnesses, one half of the touchpad constantly stops working (a known problem). Dell doesn't have the fan issue under control at all. It has happened several times now that the XPS has switched off out of nowhere (not shut down, but like pulling the plug on a PC). For some reason, the device keeps whistling very loudly. If you put the stylus to the left of the keyboard, the XPS sounds an alarm (whistle) and the screen immediately goes black. And now I've been dealing with all these problems for a year and a half. I don't know if it's just my device, but I've read about many other problems with this model series.

    Pro

    • Design
    • I find the keyboard super
    • Makes a solid impression

    Contra

    • Various hardware problems
    • Quite heavy for the size
    • Fingerprints on surface extremely visible
