Apart from a few teething troubles, a super device

Very nice device. The 4k screen is top. CPU, GPU and SSD performance is very good after some manual adjustments. Cinebench CPU measurement of 675 cb, OpenGL 82fps. SSD sequential max. 1465 MB/s measured.

    Unfortunately,
the laptop has several teething troubles in the delivered version (CPU throttling / frequency cap at 1.6 GHz in battery mode and subsequent AC power mode, constantly running fan during charging / in AC mode without CPU load, partly lame SSD performance, Dell PremierColor with constant CPU load and memory leak, poor sound quality with standard driver, slow boot process, partly automatic wake-up from sleep mode). The DellUpdater did not bring any improvement.

Most of these problems can be solved with BIOS and driver updates, BIOS settings and removal of Dell bloatware, but this should not happen with a premium device in this price range.

The carbon palm rest is nice and comfortable, but also susceptible to dirt.

Therefore, points deducted for performance and user-friendliness.

I haven't tried games yet, I need it for 3D modelling and design. According to test reports, the screen response time for games is not outstanding.

By the way, the laptop does not have TPM functionality and the 4k touch screen is reflective (which is not so annoying given the high brightness and contrast).

Conclusion: For the techie an excellent device, for the normal user and the grandmother rather less.

The design is amazing, consider the following for minor details:
    - The camera position is down the screen, you cannot make a video calls while having your fingers on the keypad, the camera will be blocked.
    - The arrows
and enter bottoms are inconvenient due to size (personal).
    - The side USB is just next to the power input, wide USBs cannot be used when the power cable is plugged (dont fit)

    -Performance is just great.
    - I shrank windows10 to 256GB and moved from RAID to AHCI, then I installed ubuntu 16.04 (64bit) as a dual-boot.
It works great. Windows 10 is not quite stable, it hangs multiple times without a reason.. The screen shows multiple flickers over a sudden. It might be due to the change I did, but I care mostly about ubuntu so it does not affect my work.

    - The 4K screen is wow. Unfortunately many software clients are not yet adapted to it. It shows bottoms very small on the screen.
    - Worth the price.

For all those who don't need the greatest possible portability but do need a portable device with a great screen and a lot of power, the Dell XPS 15 9550 is probably unbeatable at the moment (3/2016).

15 inches or 13 inches, that's the difficult question in each case. Mobility or tunnel vision with the small screen? The XPS 15 does not cause any regrets after the purchase, apart from the annoying initial difficulties. After the device had only been in operation for about 5 minutes: unmotivated shutdown or black screen after every start-up. The problem could not be solved and is known on the Internet: some incompatibility between the device, Bios and Windows 10.
Digitec delivered a new replacement device within 6 hours without hesitation! That's why I've been a satisfied customer at Digitec for 20 years.
I was sceptical about the high screen resolution: this can lead to serious display problems with programmes that do not support this ultra-high resolution. At least the resolution of the screen can be scaled so that the image is razor sharp even at lower resolutions. I have experienced this quite differently with devices from other manufacturers.
What is simply great is that the screen extends practically to the edge of the device. Meanwhile, the wide, unused edge of all other notebooks really annoys me. And if you want to play a game on your notebook from time to time, you can hardly get around the built-in nVidia GeForce GTX 960M chip.
The only thing I have to complain about is the battery performance; the device runs for about 6 hours in moderate continuous operation (Word/Excel); it's just a compromise to the high processor and graphics performance and the weight. You can't have everything.
