I have been looking for a reasonably priced colour laser printer for a long time, we have a volume of approx. 6,000 sheets per year. After a long calculation of the consumption costs, I decided on the Canon LPB 712 Cx I-Sensys. It comes with sufficient toner cartridges (100%) and you can add large toner cartridges for b/w and colour if necessary. The printer is very fast and quiet, the print quality is perfect and the paper is protected in a large drawer. The printer is connected to our LAN, printing from PC and Android phone (with the Canon app) works fine.
If this printer should be used as a home printer then please take a look at the size and weight, the part is imposing ;-).
Something irritated me the following points:
- In maximum power saving mode, the printer turns off after 4h and can not be woken up by a print job via LAN. Here, the button on the printer must be pressed manually. After the print job, the printer remains on standby for 4 hours (print job via LAN possible) until it shuts down again. This time is however adjustable, besides a timer can be furnished.
- Every time after switching on the printer, the printer searches for the central management system for about 20 seconds, I have not yet found out how this can be prevented.
- Configuring the printer via the internal web interface is suboptimal. I have organized the manual as a PDF to search for the terms so you know what to set. But it's a professional office printer, so it's a bit overloaded with settings.
