Good concept. But unfortunately it does not (yet) offer the promised QuietComfort.

After an initial test in the crowded S-Bahn, I was surprised to find that although the low frequencies (rolling noise of the train carriages) are filtered out excellently, the high frequencies (e.g. conversations) pass through unfiltered. The same result in a long-haul plane. The low frequencies were excellently filtered out, but the conversation of the passengers behind me and the screaming of children two rows in front of me were even more clearly audible than when I took out the earplugs of the "Bose QuietComfort 30". The Bose QuietComfort 30 was also not convincing in the open-plan office, as the conversations of the employees on the phone (= high frequencies) reached my ears unfiltered. Only the ventilation system running at a low frequency is faded out by the "Bose QuietComfort 30". To get a second opinion, I had my "Bose QuietComfort 30" tested by my colleagues, including one who has been using the predecessor model, the "Bose QuietComfort 20", for a long time. The conclusion is that they were all disappointed with the noise-cancelling potential of the "Bose QuietComfort 30" and even found the "Bose QuietComfort 20" to be slightly better, although it also filters out almost nothing at high frequencies.
All in all, it's a shame that Bose can't offer the promised noise-cancelling comfort with the "Bose QuietComfort 30", and I'm a bit surprised when I read the reviews of other users who praise the "Bose QuietComfort 30" unreservedly in all tones. That's why I took the time to write this review about a real-life test. It would be annoying for Bose if one of the many new start-ups in this field were suddenly to offer a better noise-canceling in-ear system.

As always, wearing comfort is excellent. Overall, despite the relatively high price compared to the Apple BeatX models, a worthwhile investment.

As a power user with an affinity for technology in the telecoms industry, with good hearing and a music lover, I personally have relatively high expectations of a headset. The focus of my evaluation is based on noise cancellation, battery life, telephone call quality, reliability of the Bluetooth connection, its range in the vicinity of interference and multi-pair functionality. Naturally full sound, bass is well reproduced. No rollover, balanced.

As a previous user of the wired Bose QC20i headset, expectations were high. One minus point is the Bluetooth-related stream to the respective active device during a call, which creates a background noise that is difficult to hear, but audible background noise if you have good hearing (regardless of the application used). The noise cancelling as well as the stepless adjustment up to the amplification of the external noise is otherwise sensationally reliable and really lets you isolate yourself from the environment. Conversely, the ambient noise can also be amplified.
Range of the Bluetooth connection 4.5 out of 5
I didn't expect the stated 10M, but it's hardly possible to reach it with reliable signal strength in an open room, even without references. The reliability, which is also related to the performance of the paired device, I can evaluate as reliable and sufficient within a radius of 5-8 metres with interference. Depending on the wall thickness, room changes are quite reliably possible.

The battery life depends on 3 factors: The inactive time until automatic switch-off, which I set to 40 minutes, as well as the number of simultaneously paired devices and the distance to them. If 2 devices are within a radius of 1.5M and take turns, 8-9 hours of battery life is achieved. If it is paired with only one iPhone 7, I am also sometimes

    Pro

    • Sound quality 5 out of 5
    • Active Noise Canceling 4.5 out of 5
    • Battery life 5 out of 5
    • Call quality 4.5 out of 5

    Contra

    • MultiDevice Pairing is possible, but you should be able to make one device the master.

Not for calls / Nicht für calls geeignet

This product is totally unusable for making calls. The microphone appears to be of mediocre quality. But what is even more problematic is that background noises are loudly amplified and covers up my voice. Whenever on calls, I get told that one hears my very poorly.

Probably a great sound and ANC capabilities, but I also wanted to use them in calls and that is just not going to be possible.
