    Expensive, but no choice

    Abhorrently expensive for a bit of plug and socket made in China, but if you need it, there's no real alternative unfortunately

    Because it doesn't say anywhere else: the adapter can be...

    Because it doesn't say anywhere else: the adapter can be bundled, even on devices that already have a network adapter built in. E.g. you can connect it to an iMac and then bundle the internal adapter with the Thunderbolt adapter, resulting in a (theoretical) transfer speed of 2GBit.
    Important here: the switch must also support this (bonding, link, port aggregation, trunking).

    Misleading description

    it is not the usb-c thunderbolt that is standard today
