My first iPhone and my first Apple product. So far I have mainly used Android and Windows smartphones. My conclusion after 3 days:
It feels good in the hand but a bit too thin to grip it well. The aluminium frame doesn't look very valuable. A cover is absolutely necessary. Good screen. Fingerprint sensor works well.
But setting up the phone and copying data with iTunes is a nightmare. Rarely seen such badly done software (hangs, crashes, no error messages, no documentation, therefore 1 point deduction for equipment)! After hours of "tinkering" it works to some extent.
IOS runs smoothly (after update to 11.0.3). Old-fashioned design with inconsistent operation (copy/paste not the same in all apps, no standard for e.g. "cancel", "back", "cancel", "ok" buttons in the apps, swipe gestures are interpreted differently, settings are scattered in different places, different look and feel of the apps), but nothing you can't learn.
Camera I haven't used much yet, seems ok.
No headphone jack. An earpiece with a Lightning connector is included. But the plug on the iPhone doesn't seem very solid. Therefore, it is better to use Bluetooth.
A big problem is the battery: After 4.5 hours of listening to music with occasional mail checking, it stops! That's with the default settings, I obviously still have to tinker with them.
It's nice that my Nokia QI charger, which is about five years old, works :)
Build quality is reasonably ok: The back (made of glass) seems to be a bit crooked. The holes for the microphone and lamp don't fit together somehow.
