What is the maximum size of SD card that I can insert in the device?

Can you put your mobile phone on this device and back up your data on it? Is there such a thing for an Android mobile phone?

An app is required to back up the data from the mobile phone to the device. Unfortunately, there is nothing for Android mobile phones so far.

is this device also compatible with the iPhone X? According to the SanDisk support site, the iPhone 8 and 8+ are compatible. However, the information was last updated on 24.10.2017 and the iPhone X was not yet on the market.

Yes, it is compatible with all Apple devices from iOS 10.

Does anyone know if there is a possibility to copy the created back-up (e.g. via USB connected to the PC)?

No, you cannot copy a backup :) The iXpand Base is only for photos, videos and contacts. If you replace your iPhone at some point with a new model, you can copy these (photos, videos and contacts) to your new iPhone using the "Restore" function.
