Is it possible to simply use this preamplifier for headphones (e.g. DT Pro770) when connecting it to the PC? I am aware that it is not a classic amplifier, but maybe someone can help me.

The trouble is, the laptop only has one connection for the input and headphone jack. The mixing console is connected there as an audio source. With a USB cable, however, the sound can be routed back to the mixing console and the headphone connection for the PC can also be connected there.

The Nowsonic Phonix (USB) should not really be praised in this way, as the audio properties are very modest with an AD/DA conversion: 16 bit, 44.1 or 48 (which is about the same as CD quality). Of course, there are discussions on the net whether a sampling rate of 192 kHz plus a sampling depth of 24 bit is not too much of a good thing for the conversion, which the other listed devices fulfil. So the audio qualities of such a product are essential and also determining for a purchase, especially if the premium to a much better product is not too big. I often find that the quality of the "master data" (master data on a product) at digitec is poor compared to the nearest competitors in Switzerland.
