The licence only runs from the first activation (registration). It is exactly the same as the package, except that no box with the code is sent but the code is sent by email.

The subscription has a limited duration. Usually one year and you only buy a licence key from digitec which you then need when installing. The advantage is that when Symatec releases a new version (upgrade) you can do this free of charge.
With a full version, on the other hand, you would have to buy a new full version. The advantage here is that there is no time limit, provided Symatec still

I installed Norton Security Premium 3.0 a few weeks ago after the Norton 360 licence expired. As it is, I could set up the backup, but I don't use it as I prefer to have my backup locally on an external HD.

Yes runs, but it is emphasised that the Edge browser is not supported (See system requirements ch.norton.com/norton-security-antivirus)
