Mechanically, this is a Canon 83 mm bayonet for lenses with a 77 mm thread - optically - i.e. the front cut-out - the EW-83J is adapted to the EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS USM. The part does not fit on a lens with a 58 mm thread.
