As far as I could tell from the comments, the printer already comes with cartridges. Is this still true and are all 10 included?

Yes, there is a complete set. I suspect that the printer will not work at all if one of the partons is missing.
Also included is a sample pack of five sheets of Canon Photo Paper Pro Platinum in A4 format.
I made the first printout from the Apple "Preview", the result was unsatisfactory.
Canon strongly recommends the software "Professional Print & Layout", which can be found on the Canon website.

Dull colours or smeared ink - I have this problem when printing from the iPad. From the photo editing app I print a photo - either via the Canon Print driver, then it only works with medium size JPEG and the printout becomes ok, but not really nice. The ink does not smear in this case. If I go via the iOs "Print" function, the printout becomes much nicer and more vivid. But you can smear the ink off the paper with your finger. And this is with Canon Platinum Pro and Photo Glossy II paper. Does anyone know this problem? And is there perhaps a solution for printing really beautiful photos from the iPad with this printer without the ink smearing?

It needs the PGI-72 ink. This is available online from electronics retailers or also from specialist shops. I have also tried to print with refill ink or cheap imitators. The printer always went on strike.
Before this printer, I had the previous product 2 times and was very satisfied with it. This one (mine) is a drunk. It takes an eternity until it starts printing.
