Panasonic DMR-BCT765EG (4k Ultra HD Blu-ray, cassette recorder, 500GB, Wi-Fi, Silver)

Description

The BCT765 includes a twin HD cable TV tuner for receiving two HD channels. It also offers far more recording possibilities. And TV Anywhere lets you stream your TV broadcasts and recordings to a smartphone or tablet anywhere in the world and view 4K content over the network. Since Panasonic recorders have two tuners, they can record two different programs simultaneously. Don't worry about missing a show if two shows overlap. In addition, the integrated high-capacity hard drive can record five times as long as in normal DR (Direct Record) mode. This should also be enough for the longest holiday. Many Panasonic Blu-ray recorders can send recordings and live TV broadcasts over the Internet to smartphones or tablets outside the home. All you need is a network connection. Gone are the days when the TV had to stand at the antenna socket. TV streaming TV>IP converts terrestrial, satellite or cable broadcasts into Internet streams. These can then be sent via your router and you can watch your favourite programme wherever you want, e.g. on a second client TV and on other devices. You can also start recording your favorite TV series while the whole family watches a movie from a video-on-demand provider like Netflix. With the Panasonic Blu-ray Recorder, you can record a live TV show while watching Netflix, so you can watch the TV program when you want. This model offers a unique technology for 4K Direct Chroma Upscaling. By upconverting Full HD chrominance and luminosity signals to 4K signals, this technology provides more precise image processing. The result is 4K images with natural texture and incredible depth. The model is designed for high-resolution audio playback In addition to the conventional WAV, FLAC, MP3, AAC and WMA formats, DSD (5.6 MHz/2.8 MHz) and ALAC audio files can also be played back. Simply connect your home audio system and enjoy music with studio master sound quality.more

TV Tuner

i

TV Tuner

A television tuner converts an RF television transmission into audio and video signals which can be further processed to produce sound and a picture. Different tuners are used for different television standards such as PAL, NTSC, ATSC, SECAM, DVB-C, DVB-T, ISDB, T-DMB, open cable.

VHF/UHF TV tuners are rarely found as a separate component; however cable boxes serve as a separate tuner, and have channel 3/4 outputs so they can serve as a cable-ready emulator for TVs that aren't cable-ready, and often feature composite, S-video, or component video outputs so they can be used on video monitors that do not have a TV tuner, or ones whose tuner is not working. They are usually bundled with a monitor, VCR, and/or DVR. However, they do exist for use by members of the television industry, and may be purchased on Internet Auction Sites, such as eBay.

TV tuners are also installed on PCI computer expansion cards (or in USB device, or even as a part of video card), together with a DSP, allowing a personal computer to display and/or capture television channels. A number of earlier models were stand-alone tuners, designed to deliver TV picture through a VGA connector. This allowed viewing television on a computer display, but, of course, did not allow recording programs by the PC.

Hard drive
i

Hard drive

A hard disk drive (HDD) is a data storage device used for storing and retrieving digital information using rapidly rotating discs (platters) coated with magnetic material. An HDD retains its data even when powered off. Data is read in a random-access manner, meaning individual blocks of data can be stored or retrieved in any order rather than just sequentially. An HDD consists of one or more rigid ("hard") rapidly rotating discs (platters) with magnetic heads arranged on a moving actuator arm to read and write data to the surfaces.

Audio formats

An audio format is a medium for storing sound and music. The term is applied to both the physical recording media and the recording formats of the audio content – in computer science it is often limited to the audio file format, but its wider use usually refers to the physical method used to store the data.
Music is recorded and distributed using a variety of audio formats, some of which store additional information.

More information...

WAV
i

WAV

WAV (or WAVE), short for Waveform audio format, is a Microsoft and IBM audio file format standard for storing an audio bitstream on PCs. It is a variant of the RIFF bitstream format method for storing data in “chunks”, and thus also close to the IFF and the AIFF format used on Amiga and Macintosh computers, respectively. It is the main format used on Windows systems for raw and typically uncompressed audio. The default bitstream encoding is the Microsoft Pulse Code Modulation (PCM) format.

FLAC
i

FLAC

FLAC (pron.: /ˈflæk/; Free Lossless Audio Codec) is a codec (compressor-decompressor or coder-decoder) which allows digital audio to be losslessly compressed such that file size is reduced without any information being lost. Digital audio compressed by FLAC's algorithm can typically be reduced to 50–60% of its original size, and decompressed into an identical copy of the original audio data.

Image file formats
i

Image file formats

Image file formats are standardized means of organizing and storing digital images. Image files are composed of either pixel or vector (geometric) data that are rasterized to pixels when displayed (with few exceptions) in a vector graphic display. The pixels that constitute an image are ordered as a grid (columns and rows); each pixel consists of numbers representing magnitudes of brightness and color.

JPEG
i

JPEG

In computing, JPEG is a commonly used method of lossy compression for digital photography (image). The degree of compression can be adjusted, allowing a selectable tradeoff between storage size and image quality. JPEG typically achieves 10:1 compression with little perceptible loss in image quality.

JPEG compression is used in a number of image file formats. JPEG/Exif is the most common image format used by digital cameras and other photographic image capture devices; along with JPEG/JFIF, it is the most common format for storing and transmitting photographic images on the World Wide Web. These format variations are often not distinguished, and are simply called JPEG.
