Description

Ready for any adventureThe Lumix FT30 was designed and built for use under harsh, inhospitable conditions. It is dustproof, waterproof to a depth of up to eight metres, impact-resistant to falls from a height of up to 1.5 metres and frost-proof to -10 degrees Celsius.
This makes the FT30 the perfect photographic companion for all outdoor activities, be it camping, diving, surfing, mountaineering, speleology or winter sports.

Fascinating pictures in every situation
Wherever you are going, the Lumix FT30 delivers the images safely and reliably in excellent quality. The robust 4x-zoom Lumix DC Vario 3.9-5.7/25-100mm lens with OIS image stabilizer is completely integrated and protected.
It offers a practical range of focal lengths from 25mm super wide angle for confined spaces up to 100mm telephoto for a larger recording of subjects.
Divers and snorkelers benefit from the underwater mode, which compensates for the typical, often unsightly blue cast of underwater shots. In addition, there is a flashlight function that brightens up subjects underwater in low light conditions, even for HD video recordings with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels.
The integrated memory of 220MB offers a recording reserve of up to 34 photos when the memory card is full, e. g. during a dive.

Controlled image design under all conditions
Creative automatic photo and video functions allow varied image design under a wide variety of shooting conditions. The Lumix FT30's "Intelligent Automatic" mode helps even beginners to achieve quick results by optimally coordinating the various camera functions for exposure and autofocus for each subject.
Reliable image control is provided by a clearly arranged LCD monitor with a 6.7 cm screen diagonal.
The "Creative Panorama" function allows horizontal or vertical panoramic images by tilting the camera.
With additional creative modes, images with a total of 12 filter effects can be edited retrospectively, and a time-lapse function captures the opening of a flower or passing clouds in impressive moving images.

ISO light sensitivity (auto)

The American Standards Association (ASA) and the Deutsches Institut für Normung (DIN) film speed standards have been combined into the ISO standards. The current International Standard for measuring the speed of color negative film is ISO 5800:1987 from the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). Related standards ISO 6:1993 and ISO 2240:2003 define scales for speeds of black-and-white negative film and color reversal film. This system defines both an arithmetic and a logarithmic scale, combining the previously separate ASA and DIN systems.
Commonly, the logarithmic speed is omitted; for example, "ISO 100" denotes ISO 100/21°.

ISO light sensitivity (manual)
i

ISO light sensitivity (manual)

The ISO 5800 standard defines the light sensitivity of film material.
For both scales: the higher the number, the more light-sensitive the film. For linear ASA scaling, a double value corresponds to twice the sensitivity. In the logarithmic DIN scale, an increase of 3° corresponds to a doubling.
In photography, doubling the light sensitivity of the film material means that under given lighting conditions the exposure time can be halved to avoid camera shake or the lens can be closed one f-stop further to achieve a greater depth of field.

i

Maximum aperture

Aperture is a (normally mechanical) device on cameras which can be used to change the light transmission through the optical system (lens). It is usually designed as a lamella screen (also known as an iris screen), in which circularly arranged lamella sheets shift into one another in such a way that the light transmission becomes narrower or wider and thus the incident light beam becomes smaller or larger. The iris is positioned in the beam path in such a way that it only acts as an aperture iris diaphragm and not as a field of view diaphragm.

Image file formats

Image file formats are standardized means of organizing and storing digital images. Image files are composed of either pixel or vector (geometric) data that are rasterized to pixels when displayed (with few exceptions) in a vector graphic display. The pixels that constitute an image are ordered as a grid (columns and rows); each pixel consists of numbers representing magnitudes of brightness and color.

JPEG

In computing, JPEG is a commonly used method of lossy compression for digital photography (image). The degree of compression can be adjusted, allowing a selectable tradeoff between storage size and image quality. JPEG typically achieves 10:1 compression with little perceptible loss in image quality.

JPEG compression is used in a number of image file formats. JPEG/Exif is the most common image format used by digital cameras and other photographic image capture devices; along with JPEG/JFIF, it is the most common format for storing and transmitting photographic images on the World Wide Web. These format variations are often not distinguished, and are simply called JPEG.

Battery-operated

A rechargeable battery or storage battery is a group of one or more electrochemical cells. They are known as secondary cells because their electrochemical reactions are electrically reversible. Rechargeable batteries come in many different shapes and sizes, ranging anything from a button cell to megawatt systems connected to stabilize an electrical distribution network. Several different combinations of chemicals are commonly used, including: lead-acid, nickel cadmium (NiCd), nickel metal hydride (NiMH), lithium ion (Li-ion), and lithium ion polymer (Li-ion polymer).

Rechargeable batteries have lower total cost of use and environmental impact than disposable batteries. Some rechargeable battery types are available in the same sizes as disposable types. Rechargeable batteries have higher initial cost, but can be recharged very cheaply and used many times.
