Description

Benefit from the high-quality Nikkor look in a housing that fits into every pocket and every situation in life: With the powerful 35x optical zoom lens, which can be expanded to 70x Dynamic Fine Zoom¹, it is possible to capture impressive travel motifs with the highest level of detail or capture memorable moments as sharp 4K UHD films. With the tiltable monitor and the P/S/A/A/M exposure control modes, there are no limits to creativity. At the same time, thanks to SnapBridge, the camera is always connected to your smart device.

The fast AF function allows you to take spontaneous pictures at any time. If you lose your subject at long telephoto focal lengths, you can easily recapture it by pressing the overview button. Impressive super time-lapse clips can also be captured with ease.

HIGH PERFORMANCE Nikkor-OPTICS IN THE ELEGANT HOUSING:
This compact camera housing hides the powerful Nikkor optics for capturing detailed images and blur-free movies. With this compact camera in a classic design, you can discover completely new possibilities.
Thanks to the Nikkor 35x optical zoom lens, which can be expanded to 70x Dynamic Fine Zoom¹, you can capture even distant subjects while travelling and stay close to events and celebrations. The lens covers an angle of view range from 24mm wide angle to 840mm super telephoto (according to 35mm format). This makes it easy to capture every detail of the action and take close-ups of subjects at a distance of just 1 cm from the lens.

POWERFUL IMAGE STABILIZER (VR):
The highly effective image stabilizer compensates for camera shake in real time, so that you can take pin-sharp images and smooth movies even in maximum teleposition with this small camera housing. The image stabilizer with moving lens group and the Digital-VR combine to achieve an efficiency that reduces exposure time by 4.0 light value levels (according to the CIPA standard, at maximum telephoto setting) and ensures blur-free photos. The 5-axis Hybrid VR system stabilizes the image during filming so that your video recordings are always sharp.

CMOS IMAGE SENSOR WITH BACKLIGHT AND 20.3 MEGAPIXELS:
The high resolution of the powerful CMOS rear-imaging CMOS image sensor gives you superior performance and pin-sharp, low-noise images. Thus, the camera offers you a further advantage in low light conditions. You can take excellent high-resolution images even in dark situations.

FILM RECORDING IN 4K UHD:
Simply press the dedicated movie recording button to switch to record movies in 4K UHD (3840x2160/30p) with stereo sound. The pause function to pause movie recording allows you to pause the movie and resume shooting at a later time. You can also save live still images as photos when playing movies, or use the movie editing function to reduce your movies to the interesting action.

Image sensor type

An image sensor is a device that converts an optical image to an electric signal. It is used mostly in digital cameras and other imaging devices. An image sensor is typically a charge-coupled device (CCD) or a complementary metal–oxide–semiconductor (CMOS) active-pixel sensor.

CMOS

Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor (CMOS) is a term for semiconductor devices that use both p-channel and n-channel MOSFETs on a common substrate. CMOS technology refers to both the semiconductor process used to realize integrated digital and analog circuits and a logic family. CMOS technology is the most widely used logic family today and is mainly used for integrated circuits.

ISO light sensitivity (auto)

The American Standards Association (ASA) and the Deutsches Institut für Normung (DIN) film speed standards have been combined into the ISO standards. The current International Standard for measuring the speed of color negative film is ISO 5800:1987 from the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). Related standards ISO 6:1993 and ISO 2240:2003 define scales for speeds of black-and-white negative film and color reversal film. This system defines both an arithmetic and a logarithmic scale, combining the previously separate ASA and DIN systems.
Commonly, the logarithmic speed is omitted; for example, "ISO 100" denotes ISO 100/21°.

i

Maximum aperture

Aperture is a (normally mechanical) device on cameras which can be used to change the light transmission through the optical system (lens). It is usually designed as a lamella screen (also known as an iris screen), in which circularly arranged lamella sheets shift into one another in such a way that the light transmission becomes narrower or wider and thus the incident light beam becomes smaller or larger. The iris is positioned in the beam path in such a way that it only acts as an aperture iris diaphragm and not as a field of view diaphragm.

Contrast-based

Focusing by means of contrast measurement at contour edges is basically the same as focusing the eye, i.e. the photographer, without further aids: The image width of the lens is varied until the brightness curve at light/dark contour edges has a maximum steepness. The camera's processor calculates the frequency distribution in the image, and the greater the proportion of high frequencies (i.e. abrupt light-dark changes), the sharper the image.

Image file formats

Image file formats are standardized means of organizing and storing digital images. Image files are composed of either pixel or vector (geometric) data that are rasterized to pixels when displayed (with few exceptions) in a vector graphic display. The pixels that constitute an image are ordered as a grid (columns and rows); each pixel consists of numbers representing magnitudes of brightness and color.

JPEG

In computing, JPEG is a commonly used method of lossy compression for digital photography (image). The degree of compression can be adjusted, allowing a selectable tradeoff between storage size and image quality. JPEG typically achieves 10:1 compression with little perceptible loss in image quality.

JPEG compression is used in a number of image file formats. JPEG/Exif is the most common image format used by digital cameras and other photographic image capture devices; along with JPEG/JFIF, it is the most common format for storing and transmitting photographic images on the World Wide Web. These format variations are often not distinguished, and are simply called JPEG.

Battery-operated

A rechargeable battery or storage battery is a group of one or more electrochemical cells. They are known as secondary cells because their electrochemical reactions are electrically reversible. Rechargeable batteries come in many different shapes and sizes, ranging anything from a button cell to megawatt systems connected to stabilize an electrical distribution network. Several different combinations of chemicals are commonly used, including: lead-acid, nickel cadmium (NiCd), nickel metal hydride (NiMH), lithium ion (Li-ion), and lithium ion polymer (Li-ion polymer).

Rechargeable batteries have lower total cost of use and environmental impact than disposable batteries. Some rechargeable battery types are available in the same sizes as disposable types. Rechargeable batteries have higher initial cost, but can be recharged very cheaply and used many times.

Kauftipp
