Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 105mm 1:1.4E ED

Description

This portrait lens emerges from a line that goes back to the renowned NIKKOR 105 mm 1:2.5. It is designed to record every nuance. The completely new optics provide astonishing sharpness down to the image corners, high contrast and high resolution. The bokeh is exceptionally soft and the motifs are also shown sharply in the open aperture of 1.4. The photos have depth and dimension that stick in your memory - whether in ambient light or in the studio.

UNIQUE CHARACTER: HIGH LUMINOUS INTENSITY OF 1:1.4 AND 105 MM FOCAL LENGTH:

This fixed focal length FX format lens is ideal for visualizing your aesthetic ideas. The focal length of 105 mm in combination with a close-up limit of 1 m enables image-filling portraits that do not require cropping. The unique optical construction allows the lifelike reproduction of every detail of the motif: even with an open aperture, the finest textures can be recorded in all their beauty. And the 9-blade rounded aperture delivers an impressive bokeh and offers highly sensitive depth of field control from 1:1.4 to infinity.

ATTRACTIVE BOKEH: DEPTH AND DIMENSION:

Thanks to its unique optical construction, this lens offers a wonderfully gentle bokeh and can give the motifs a beautiful and natural depth effect. The blurred transition in the image occurs evenly and with increasing distance to the sharply focused point, resulting in a bokeh without hard edges. And the fine gradation of the bokeh from the focused point to the background provides images with an incredibly natural-looking depth. These advantages also apply to filming: By shifting the focus, wonderfully soft boke transitions are achieved, with which uniquely atmospheric shots succeed.

DRAWING WITH LIGHT: UNBEATABLE PERFORMANCE WHEN PHOTOGRAPHING WITH OPEN APERTURE:

The AF-S NIKKOR 105 mm 1:1,4E ED allows an extraordinary control of the image aesthetics. Even when shooting with an open aperture of 1.4, the subject is reproduced with perfect clarity. Sagittal coma scattered light is effectively minimized, so that point-shaped light sources are displayed as fine, rounded points even at the edges of the image. Peripheral light fall-off is limited to achieve uniform brightness for the entire image area. The subjects at the edges of the image will be sharp and high resolution even when shooting with the aperture open and focus set to infinity.

LEGENDARY NIKKOR QUALITY:

Nine rounded slats reduce the refraction of light and ensure a lifelike image of the elements of a motif. Exposure control is exceptionally stable, even in fast continuous shooting, thanks to the electromagnetic iris mechanism in the lens barrel. The nanocrystal coating reduces ghosting and stray light and Nikon's silent wave motor (SWM) ensures a quiet and even autofocus. Three lenses made of ED glass (Extra-low Dispersion) minimize longitudinal color errors. The front and rear lenses are protected with Nikon's fluoride coating, which effectively repels dust, dirt, water and grease, making cleaning easier.

Camera lens properties

i

Camera lens properties

A camera lens (also known as photographic lens, objective lens or photographic objective) is an optical lens or assembly of lenses used in conjunction with a camera body and mechanism to make images of objects either on photographic film or on other media capable of storing an image chemically or electronically.
While in principle a simple convex lens will suffice, in practice a compound lens made up of a number of optical lens elements is required to correct (as much as possible) the many optical aberrations that arise. Some aberrations will be present in any lens system. It is the job of the lens designer to balance these out and produce a design that is suitable for photographic use and possibly mass production.
A lens may be permanently fixed to a camera, or it may be interchangeable with lenses of different focal lengths, apertures, and other properties.

Macro lens
i

Macro lens

"Macro" lenses specifically designed for close-up work, with a long barrel for close focusing, are one of the most common tools for macrophotography. (Nikon designates such lenses as "Micro" because of their original use in making microforms, but most lens makers use the term "Macro" or "Makro.") These lenses are optimized for high reproduction ratios. Most modern macro lenses can focus continuously to infinity as well, using complex focusing mechanisms that alter the optical formula. In most cases these lenses provide excellent optical quality when used for normal photography, although a macro lens may be optimized to provide its best performance at its highest magnification. True macro lenses, such as the Canon MP-E 65 mm f/2.8, can achieve higher magnification than life size, enabling photography of the structure of small insect eyes, snowflakes, and other minuscule objects.

Telephoto lens
i

Telephoto lens

In photography and cinematography, a telephoto lens is a specific type of a long-focus lens in which the physical length of the lens is shorter than the focal length. This is achieved by incorporating a special lens group known as a telephoto group that extends the light path to create a long-focus lens in a much shorter overall design. The angle of view and other effects of long-focus lenses are the same for telephoto lenses of the same specified focal length. Long-focal-length lenses are often informally referred to as telephoto lenses although this is technically incorrect: a telephoto lens specifically incorporates the telephoto group.

Lens mount
i

Lens mount

A lens mount is an interface — mechanical and often also electrical — between a photographic camera body and a lens. It is confined to cameras where the body allows interchangeable lenses, most usually the single lens reflex type or any movie camera of 16 mm or higher gauge. Lens mounts are also used to connect optical components in instrumentation that may not involve a camera, such as the modular components used in optical laboratory prototyping which join via C-mount or T-mount elements.

Focal length

The focal length of an optical system is a measure of how strongly it converges (focuses) or diverges (diffuses) light. A system with a shorter focal length has greater optical power than one with a long focal length.

Focal Length APS-C / DX (35mm film equivalent)

In photography, the 35 mm equivalent focal length is a measure that indicates the angle of view of a particular combination of a camera lens and film or sensor size. The term is useful because most photographers experienced with interchangeable lenses are most familiar with the 35 mm film format.

Internal focusing
i

Internal focusing

Internal focusing, abbreviated IF, is a type of lens design in which the distance is not adjusted by shifting the entire lens, but only one or more lenses within the lens. The remaining lenses, especially the front lens, maintain their distance from the image capture plane (filament net, film or image sensor), which does not change the overall length of the lens.

Focusing

i

Focusing

In geometrical optics, a focus, also called an image point, is the point where light rays originating from a point on the object converge. Although the focus is conceptually a point, physically the focus has a spatial extent, called the blur circle. This non-ideal focusing may be caused by aberrations of the imaging optics. In the absence of significant aberrations, the smallest possible blur circle is the Airy disc, which is caused by diffraction from the optical system's aperture. Aberrations tend to get worse as the aperture diameter increases, while the Airy circle is smallest for large apertures.

i

Minimum aperture f/

In optics, an aperture is a hole or an opening through which light travels. More specifically, the aperture of an optical system is the opening that determines the cone angle of a bundle of rays that come to a focus in the image plane. The aperture determines how collimated the admitted rays are, which is of great importance for the appearance at the image plane. If an aperture is narrow, then highly collimated rays are admitted, resulting in a sharp focus at the image plane. If an aperture is wide, then uncollimated rays are admitted, resulting in a sharp focus only for rays with a certain focal length. This means that a wide aperture results in an image that is sharp around what the lens is focusing on and blurred otherwise. The aperture also determines how many of the incoming rays are actually admitted and thus how much light reaches the image plane (the narrower the aperture, the darker the image for a given exposure time).

Smartphones with bokeh effect: revolutionary or just a gimmick?

More and more smartphones can capture shots with a blurry background. How does this feature fare compared with the «real» bokeh on big cameras? Not particularly well, I must admit. But that’s not to say it’s useless.

Für Portrait perfekt. Auch anderweitig gut einsetzbar. Braucht sicher eine entsprechende hochwertige Kamera

Sehr hochwertiges Objektiv. Nicht billig, aber - soweit man es überhaupt einsetzen kann - sicher eine Überlegung wert.
