Nikon AF-S 8-15mm f3,5-4,5 E ED

Description

The creativity of a fisheye lens with the versatility of a zoom lens. Simply switch from a circular (8 mm) to a full-screen fisheye display (15 mm).
Shoot at a full 180° (horizontal, vertical and diagonal) at 8mm focal length. Or use the full screen with a diagonal angle of view of 180° at 15 mm focal length.¨

The result is super high-resolution images that are sharp even with an open aperture of 1:3.5 right into the image corners.
Three lenses made of ED glass (Extra-low Dispersion) minimize color fringes caused by transverse chromatic aberrations. Two aspherical lenses reduce coma and other imaging errors. The Nikon nanocrystal coating almost completely eliminates ghosting and stray light in the entire image field, even with backlight.

The image quality remains high for close-ups. Benefit from the close-up limit of 0.16m.
A close-up limit of 0.16 m and a magnification factor of 0.34 allow you to take pictures of subjects only about 3 cm from the front lens surface without compromising peripheral resolution.

Extremely fast and quiet autofocus and reliable exposure control.
Nikon's silent wave motor (SWM) provides extremely fast and quiet autofocus with seamless manual override. The lens is equipped with a special focusing ring for manual focusing. The electromagnetic iris control of the lens ensures even exposure results.

The robust construction, resistant to dust and dripping water, enables reliable use even in problematic weather conditions.
The weatherproof design prevents dust and water droplets from damaging the lens. The Nikon fluoride coating is dust, water and dirt repellent without impairing image quality.

Stay flexible. You can respond quickly to shooting opportunities by attaching or removing the lens cap and lens hood in a single movement.
Use the lens hood to capture full-screen fisheye images and remove it to switch to a circular perspective - easily. The lens cap is attached to the lens hood and the lens hood to the lens: You can mount or remove the lens cap and lens hood together or just remove the lens cap.

Camera lens properties

i

Camera lens properties

A camera lens (also known as photographic lens, objective lens or photographic objective) is an optical lens or assembly of lenses used in conjunction with a camera body and mechanism to make images of objects either on photographic film or on other media capable of storing an image chemically or electronically.
While in principle a simple convex lens will suffice, in practice a compound lens made up of a number of optical lens elements is required to correct (as much as possible) the many optical aberrations that arise. Some aberrations will be present in any lens system. It is the job of the lens designer to balance these out and produce a design that is suitable for photographic use and possibly mass production.
A lens may be permanently fixed to a camera, or it may be interchangeable with lenses of different focal lengths, apertures, and other properties.

Fisheye lens
i

Fisheye lens

In photography, a fisheye lens is a wide-angle lens that takes in a broad, panoramic and hemispherical image. Originally developed for use in meteorology to study cloud formation and called "whole-sky lenses", fisheye lenses quickly became popular in general photography for their unique, distorted appearance.

Wide angle lens
i

Wide angle lens

In photography and cinematography, a wide-angle lens refers to a lens whose focal length is substantially smaller than the focal length of a normal lens for a given film plane. This type of lens allows more of the scene to be included in the photograph, which is useful in architectural, interior and landscape photography where the photographer may not be able to move farther from the scene to photograph it.

Lens mount
i

Lens mount

A lens mount is an interface — mechanical and often also electrical — between a photographic camera body and a lens. It is confined to cameras where the body allows interchangeable lenses, most usually the single lens reflex type or any movie camera of 16 mm or higher gauge. Lens mounts are also used to connect optical components in instrumentation that may not involve a camera, such as the modular components used in optical laboratory prototyping which join via C-mount or T-mount elements.

Focal length
i

Focal length

The focal length of an optical system is a measure of how strongly it converges (focuses) or diverges (diffuses) light. A system with a shorter focal length has greater optical power than one with a long focal length.

i

Focal Length APS-C / DX (35mm film equivalent)

In photography, the 35 mm equivalent focal length is a measure that indicates the angle of view of a particular combination of a camera lens and film or sensor size. The term is useful because most photographers experienced with interchangeable lenses are most familiar with the 35 mm film format.

Internal focusing
i

Internal focusing

Internal focusing, abbreviated IF, is a type of lens design in which the distance is not adjusted by shifting the entire lens, but only one or more lenses within the lens. The remaining lenses, especially the front lens, maintain their distance from the image capture plane (filament net, film or image sensor), which does not change the overall length of the lens.

Focusing

i

Focusing

In geometrical optics, a focus, also called an image point, is the point where light rays originating from a point on the object converge. Although the focus is conceptually a point, physically the focus has a spatial extent, called the blur circle. This non-ideal focusing may be caused by aberrations of the imaging optics. In the absence of significant aberrations, the smallest possible blur circle is the Airy disc, which is caused by diffraction from the optical system's aperture. Aberrations tend to get worse as the aperture diameter increases, while the Airy circle is smallest for large apertures.

i

Minimum aperture f/

In optics, an aperture is a hole or an opening through which light travels. More specifically, the aperture of an optical system is the opening that determines the cone angle of a bundle of rays that come to a focus in the image plane. The aperture determines how collimated the admitted rays are, which is of great importance for the appearance at the image plane. If an aperture is narrow, then highly collimated rays are admitted, resulting in a sharp focus at the image plane. If an aperture is wide, then uncollimated rays are admitted, resulting in a sharp focus only for rays with a certain focal length. This means that a wide aperture results in an image that is sharp around what the lens is focusing on and blurred otherwise. The aperture also determines how many of the incoming rays are actually admitted and thus how much light reaches the image plane (the narrower the aperture, the darker the image for a given exposure time).
