Description

How can perfection be achieved? With refined details that prove themselves in practical use. The outstanding performance of this latest model of the proven lens series ensures that you are always at the forefront.
Enhanced AF tracking and exposure control and the SPORT VR mode make it possible to shoot fantastic series of shots. A brand-new optical design ensures optimum image quality from edge to edge. Thanks to Nikon's nanocrystalline coating, ghost images and scattered light are effectively minimized. The integration of a fluorite glass lens in the front lens area saves weight while at the same time providing excellent optical properties and also leads to improved balance.

PLAY IN THE TOP LEAGUE: 1:2.8 TELEZOOM LENS:
Sport, action, news, reports: this lens in FX format takes you to a new level. The focal length of 70 to 200 mm (corresponds to 105 to 300 mm when using a Nikon digital SLR camera with a DX-format image sensor) covers the most commonly used telephoto range. The high luminous intensity of 1:2.8 offers great photographic freedom when using selective sharpness or low light. The professional zoom lens delivers excellent performance even at the aperture and the autofocus works extremely fast and reliably. The lower close-up limit is 1.1 m, the maximum magnification has been increased from 1:9.1 to 1:4.8. Photographers working with Nikon's high-resolution image sensors and high frame rate SLR cameras are well prepared for any situation with this new telephoto zoom.

SHARP, FREE OF CAMERA SHAKE, FAST: IMPROVED IMAGE STABILIZER (VR):
Keep up with the action without compromising sharpness. Nikon's Image Stabilizer compensates for camera shake and allows sharp shots with exposure times up to 4 f-stops longer than without VR. ¹ The Image Stabilizer, which reduces camera shake caused by camera movements, is activated as soon as the shutter release button is pressed down to the first pressure point and offers various VR modes. The SPORT-VR mode provides a smoother viewfinder image when shooting extremely fast movements or when shooting subjects that move unexpectedly. The Image Stabilizer provides almost the same frame rate and shutter release delay values as when VR is off. The object also detects whether a tripod is being used and automatically adjusts the VR modes Normal and SPORT.

PRECISION OF THE OBJECTIVE-CAMERA COMBINATION: OUTSTANDING AF TRACKING AND EXPOSURE CONTROL:
Designed specifically for use with Nikon's fast, professional SLR cameras, the lens responds quickly and accurately to distance changes. Fast-moving subjects can be reliably tracked, even if they move unexpectedly and at different speeds or approach the camera. And better AF tracking is not the only innovation. Even during fast continuous shooting, the electro-magnetic aperture mechanism ensures maximum precision and consistency in the exposure control of images. And Nikon's Silent-Wave (SWM) motor guarantees extremely fast and quiet autofocus with the ability to access manual focus at any time.

Camera lens properties

i

Camera lens properties

A camera lens (also known as photographic lens, objective lens or photographic objective) is an optical lens or assembly of lenses used in conjunction with a camera body and mechanism to make images of objects either on photographic film or on other media capable of storing an image chemically or electronically.
While in principle a simple convex lens will suffice, in practice a compound lens made up of a number of optical lens elements is required to correct (as much as possible) the many optical aberrations that arise. Some aberrations will be present in any lens system. It is the job of the lens designer to balance these out and produce a design that is suitable for photographic use and possibly mass production.
A lens may be permanently fixed to a camera, or it may be interchangeable with lenses of different focal lengths, apertures, and other properties.

Telephoto lens
i

Telephoto lens

In photography and cinematography, a telephoto lens is a specific type of a long-focus lens in which the physical length of the lens is shorter than the focal length. This is achieved by incorporating a special lens group known as a telephoto group that extends the light path to create a long-focus lens in a much shorter overall design. The angle of view and other effects of long-focus lenses are the same for telephoto lenses of the same specified focal length. Long-focal-length lenses are often informally referred to as telephoto lenses although this is technically incorrect: a telephoto lens specifically incorporates the telephoto group.

Lens mount
i

Lens mount

A lens mount is an interface — mechanical and often also electrical — between a photographic camera body and a lens. It is confined to cameras where the body allows interchangeable lenses, most usually the single lens reflex type or any movie camera of 16 mm or higher gauge. Lens mounts are also used to connect optical components in instrumentation that may not involve a camera, such as the modular components used in optical laboratory prototyping which join via C-mount or T-mount elements.

In photography, the 35 mm equivalent focal length is a measure that indicates the angle of view of a particular combination of a camera lens and film or sensor size. The term is useful because most photographers experienced with interchangeable lenses are most familiar with the 35 mm film format.

Image stabilization
i

Image stabilization

Image stabilization (IS) is a family of techniques used to reduce blurring associated with the motion of a camera during exposure. Specifically, it compensates for pan and tilt (angular movement, equivalent to yaw and pitch) of a camera or other imaging device. It is used in image-stabilized binoculars, still and video cameras, and astronomical telescopes. With still cameras, camera shake is particularly problematic at slow shutter speeds or with long focal length (telephoto) lenses. With video cameras, camera shake causes visible frame-to-frame jitter in the recorded video. In astronomy, the problem of lens-shake is added to by variations in the atmosphere over time, which cause the apparent positions of objects to change.

Focusing

i

Focusing

In geometrical optics, a focus, also called an image point, is the point where light rays originating from a point on the object converge. Although the focus is conceptually a point, physically the focus has a spatial extent, called the blur circle. This non-ideal focusing may be caused by aberrations of the imaging optics. In the absence of significant aberrations, the smallest possible blur circle is the Airy disc, which is caused by diffraction from the optical system's aperture. Aberrations tend to get worse as the aperture diameter increases, while the Airy circle is smallest for large apertures.

Minimum aperture f/
i

Minimum aperture f/

In optics, an aperture is a hole or an opening through which light travels. More specifically, the aperture of an optical system is the opening that determines the cone angle of a bundle of rays that come to a focus in the image plane. The aperture determines how collimated the admitted rays are, which is of great importance for the appearance at the image plane. If an aperture is narrow, then highly collimated rays are admitted, resulting in a sharp focus at the image plane. If an aperture is wide, then uncollimated rays are admitted, resulting in a sharp focus only for rays with a certain focal length. This means that a wide aperture results in an image that is sharp around what the lens is focusing on and blurred otherwise. The aperture also determines how many of the incoming rays are actually admitted and thus how much light reaches the image plane (the narrower the aperture, the darker the image for a given exposure time).

Tolles Objektiv

Liefert sehr scharfe Bilder. Bei 70mm zum Beispiel deutlich schärfer als das Nikkor 24 - 70mm 2.8 (neueste Version). Sehr schneller Autofokus. Die vier Autofokustasten direkt am Objektiv sind äusserst praktisch.
