way for speeds of 2.5 and 5 gigabits - in addition to the older speeds of 1 and 10 gigabits per second. New servers, workstations, storage devices, and motherboards are equipped with 802.3bz (NBASE-T) multi-gigabit Ethernet for 2.5 to 5 times faster speeds and up to 100 meters of traditional Cat5E/Cat6 cabling. That's why Netgear developed the new 8-port Multi-Gigabit Smart Managed Pro Switch with 10G copper/fiber uplinks. Each port automatically detects the speed required by the connected device and provides it. Unlike traditional 10 Gigabit switches, which provide 1 Gigabit connectivity for all devices requiring less than 10 Gigabit, MS510TX and MS510TXPP provide the accurate speed required without downgrading. In addition, the new Netgear Multispeed Switch ports can be connected with standard CAT5e network cables without the need to upgrade to CAT6 cabling. This means lower costs and less effort.
