Description

The neonate BC-8000DV from Norway is the lowest radiation video baby monitor on the market. It is interference-free and has a unique range of 800m (audio) and 300m (video). The transmission power is many times lower than that of a DECT baby monitor and is only 10% / 40% (audio / video). Furthermore, the BC-8000DV can be equipped with up to 4 independent cameras.

Unique modes to reduce radiation and extend battery life
LCD ON/OFF mode (LCD "on" permanent video transmission, audio is only transmitted in case of noise)
VOX mode (LCD switches on automatically in case of noise)
Audio only mode (LCD "off", only audio transmission in case of noise)
In Audio Only mode of the Automatic Power Reduction System (APRS), the distance between the devices is measured and the output power is automatically reduced.

qualities
100% digital transmission, interference-free audio transmission. Automatic channel selection
High-capacity (1600 mAh) rechargeable Li-polymer battery for both devices
Coupling of up to four cameras possible. LED light with different colors indicates which camera is currently transmitting
Multiple selectable modes offer flexibility depending on the desired use of video transmission
Audio only mode reduces radiation to a minimum and saves battery power
Incl. multifunctional clip with suction cup and velcro tape, so that the camera can be attached at different locations

Radiation/Transmission (Continuous Transmission)
Audio (sound only) - Max 25 mW (10% of DECT)
Video (image only) - Max 100 mW (40% of DECT)
Combined - Max 125 mW (50% of DECT)

functionalities
Voice-controlled activation of the devices
Intercom function, so that two-way communication between the devices is possible
Large LCD display with text on receiver provides useful information and makes the device user-friendly
The transmitter's battery level indicator can also be seen on the receiver's LCD display.
Visual and audio alarms on the receiver when the battery level on either device is low
The room temperature in the children's room is displayed on the receiver. Temperature alarm with adjustable upper and lower limits
Receiver: Night light with voice activation, volume control and adjustable microphone sensitivity Volume control on the receiver

Baby monitors

A baby monitor, also known as a baby alarm, is a radio system used to remotely listen to sounds made by an infant. The transmitter, equipped with a microphone, is placed near to the child and the receiver equipped with a speaker, is carried by, or near to, the person caring for the infant. Some baby monitors provide two-way communication which allows the caregiver to speak back to the baby (parent talk-back). Some allow music to be played to the child.

One of the primary uses of baby monitors allows attendants to hear when an infant wakes, while out of immediate hearing distance of the infant. Although commonly used, there is no evidence that these monitors prevent SIDS, and many doctors believe they provide a false sense of security.

Display size
i

Display size

The size of a display is typically given as the distance between two opposite screen corners. One problem with this method is that it does not distinguish between the aspect ratios of monitors with identical diagonal sizes, in spite of the fact that a shape of a given diagonal span's area decreases as it becomes less square. For example, a 4:3 21" monitor has an area of ~211 square inches, while a 16:9 21" widescreen has an area of only ~188 square inches.

Battery-operated

A rechargeable battery or storage battery is a group of one or more electrochemical cells. They are known as secondary cells because their electrochemical reactions are electrically reversible. Rechargeable batteries come in many different shapes and sizes, ranging anything from a button cell to megawatt systems connected to stabilize an electrical distribution network. Several different combinations of chemicals are commonly used, including: lead-acid, nickel cadmium (NiCd), nickel metal hydride (NiMH), lithium ion (Li-ion), and lithium ion polymer (Li-ion polymer).

Rechargeable batteries have lower total cost of use and environmental impact than disposable batteries. Some rechargeable battery types are available in the same sizes as disposable types. Rechargeable batteries have higher initial cost, but can be recharged very cheaply and used many times.

Battery properties

i

Battery properties

There are two types of batteries: primary batteries (disposable batteries), which are designed to be used once and discarded when they are exhausted, and secondary batteries (rechargeable batteries), which are designed to be recharged and used multiple times. Miniature cells are used to power devices such as hearing aids and wristwatches; larger batteries provide standby power for telephone exchanges or computer data centers.

LiPo
i

LiPo

Lithium-ion polymer batteries, polymer lithium ion or more commonly lithium polymer batteries (abbreviated Li-poly, Li-Pol, LiPo, LIP, PLI or LiP) are rechargeable (secondary cell) batteries. LiPo batteries are usually composed of several identical secondary cells in parallel to increase the discharge current capability, and are often available in series "packs" to increase the total available voltage.

Power supply
i

Power supply

A power supply is a device that supplies electrical energy to one or more electric loads. The term is most commonly applied to devices that convert one form of electrical energy to another, though it may also refer to devices that convert another form of energy (e.g., mechanical, chemical, solar) to electrical energy. A regulated power supply is one that controls the output voltage or current to a specific value; the controlled value is held nearly constant despite variations in either load current or the voltage supplied by the power supply's energy source.

Works out-of-the-box, can also be attached to a stroller

We just unpacked the article, pressed the "Power" button on both the child and the parent unit, and were able to use the product at once. Having a small baby, it is of extreme importance to start actually using the product without studying the manuals.

While most similar products only allow mounting the baby unit on a flat surface, this one gives freedom in mounting/hanging the baby unit by including several attachment clips. For us it was crucial to monitor the baby sleeping in a stroller on a balcony, so we could conveniently attach the baby unit to the cap of the stroller.
