Description

Velop is a powerful WLAN module system that uses dynamic tri-band technology to deliver a world-class wireless network with seamless connectivity. Unlike conventional routers with range extenders, Velop uses a tri-band mesh system to provide a WLAN connection with no delays or buffers anywhere in the home. Velop Nodes are suitable for all types of houses. Since each node increases your radio coverage, you can add more nodes as needed to increase your coverage.
network expansion. The nodes together form a mesh-like system with only one network name and password. You do not need to switch to another network. Thanks to the compact, stylish
designs, the nodes can be placed in a visible position without unsightly cables.
The Linksys App allows you to set up Velop in no time at all. We also offer a limited three-year manufacturer's warranty and technical support for Velop.

Update June 2017:
The web-based user interface allows Velop users to manage their networks on the PC and access advanced features:

DHCP server access for automatic assignment of IP addresses to devices newly added to the network. This is
makes it easier to connect to mobile devices that are often removed from the network and added later.

DNS configuration for linking host names, e. g. assigning a web address to a specific IP address.

Troubleshooting: Device table, router report, pin/trace route, protocols. These features provide additional insight into network performance.

Security: Firewall, VPN pass-through, DMZ settings. Users can use these settings to manage network security.

Browser access for users with Mac or Windows PC.

Routers

A router is a device that forwards data packets between computer networks, creating an overlay internetwork. A router is connected to two or more data lines from different networks. When a data packet comes in one of the lines, the router reads the address information in the packet to determine its ultimate destination. Then, using information in its routing table or routing policy, it directs the packet to the next network on its journey. Routers perform the "traffic directing" functions on the Internet. A data packet is typically forwarded from one router to another through the networks that constitute the internetwork until it gets to its destination node.

Firewall

A firewall can either be software-based or hardware-based and is used to help keep a network secure. Its primary objective is to control the incoming and outgoing network traffic by analyzing the data packets and determining whether it should be allowed through or not, based on a predetermined rule set. A network's firewall builds a bridge between an internal network that is assumed to be secure and trusted, and another network, usually an external (inter)network, such as the Internet, that is not assumed to be secure and trusted.
