In 1920 Josef Neuhierl started manufacturing tin toys in Fürth, Franconia. At that time, nobody had any idea that the triumphal march for one of Europe's most popular toys began here: the Carrera car racetrack. In 1963, Neuhierls son Hermann presented "Carrera Universal", the first electrically driven 1:32 scale Carrera author's track, which became a huge success. In 1967, another sensational system on a larger vehicle scale was launched in the form of the "Carrera 124". The proverbial high quality, lots of accessories and other innovative products - those were the ingredients for the recipe for success even then.
The terms Carrera and racetrack quickly became inseparable. Today Carrera has a brand awareness of well over 90% and means action, fun and motorsport. Generations of fathers and sons had and still have fun with Carrera in spectacular cornering drifts and breathtaking duels for victory. The name Carrera comes from Spanish and means "race".

Further development and successor system of PRO-X. Like this, it is based on the proven Evolution/Exclusiv pavement material. Up to six vehicles can now be operated simultaneously. Also new is the retrofitting option for analogue vehicles (Evolution from model year 2007, Exclusive from model year 2005). Furthermore, the digital vehicles can also be operated on analogue tracks. However, the Digital 132 railway itself does not offer an operating mode for analogue vehicles; these must be retrofitted with digital decoders if they are to be used on the digital system. The Digital 132 components from the 2007 and 2008 production years are also backwards compatible with the previous Carrera PRO-X system. From 2009, this downward compatibility will no longer apply.
