Juni 2008 angekündigt, enthält diese Betriebssystemversion hauptsächlich Verbesserungen und nur wenige neue Funktionen. Ausserdem gibt es eine erweiterte 64-Bit-Unterstützung im Betriebssystemkernel. Der Finder wurde komplett neu geschrieben und ist nun eine 64-Bit-Anwendung. Die meisten vorinstallierten Programme von Apple laufen nun ebenfalls im 64-Bit-Modus, können jedoch bei Bedarf in 32 Bit gestartet werden. QuickTime X unterstützt moderne Multimediacodecs besser; hinzu kommt eine native Unterstützung von Microsoft Exchange 2007 in den Programmen Mail, Adressbuch und iCal. Seit dem 6. Brother hat schon bessere Geräte gemacht...

Im Vergleich zum Vorgänger 8270CDN ein echter Rückschritt. Der Scanner ist immer noch extrem langsam, auch über USB stockt er nach einigen Blättern. Das Control Center (die wichtigste App zum Scannen) lässt sich nicht ohne Brother Tools starten (das ging früher noch). Und der Drucker ist bei Duplex sehr laut. Da war der Vorgänger um einiges leiser.
Ah, und beim Einzelblatt-Einzug hat es eine scharfe Kante, über welche man das Papier immer vorsichtig schieben muss.

Alles in Allem ein echter Rückschritt zu den älteren Modellen.

Inexistenter Support

Eigentlich wäre das ein schönes Multifunktionsgerät. Es funktioniert auch alles perfekt in unserem Büro - nur mit meinem PC gar nicht. Deshalb auch die Gesamtbewertung von einem Stern. Egal was man macht: Die Scanner-Funktionalität geht mit meinem PC überhaupt nicht. Was ja nicht weiter schlimm wäre, wenn man einen guten Support hätte: Aber in dieser Hinsicht brilliert Brother überhaupt nicht. Auf e-Mails und Anfragen über die Support-Webseite wird gar nicht erst reagiert, die Telefonhotline kostet ab ca. 10 Minuten CHF 3.- / Minute. Dass erst nach der günstigen Zeit ein Anruf entgegengenommen wird, ist ja logisch.

Schade - eigentlich ein gutes Gerät, aber aufgrund des wirklich grottenschlechten Services eine klare NICHT-Kaufempfehlung.
