BOYA BY-PVM1000 (Mono)

Description

The BY-PVM1000 from Boya is a professional condenser directional microphone suitable for all-round sound recording in combination with your DSLR or video camera. Thanks to the special base, the BY-PVM1000 can be mounted on a flash shoe as well as on a ¼" or 3/8" screw thread. When using the BY-PVM1000 on set, you can count on high-quality and interference-free sound. The BY-PVM1000 microphone is clamped in a shock absorber with rubber rings, which reduces cracking noises to a minimum. The BY-PVM1000 is also an ideal tool for outdoor recordings. In addition to the standard wind cap, an extra wind shield is also supplied to ensure perfect sound. The condenser microphone can be powered by 48V phantom power. If your camera does not support this function, an AA battery can also be used. Included in delivery are also a practical case, replacement rings, a female XLR to male 3.5mm cable and a 3.5mm to 6.3mm adapter.

The BY-PVM1000 is suitable for anyone who wants to take pictures on set and record ambient noise. Whether it concerns the recording of company videos, presentations, concert recordings and much more. It is also possible to take the microphone out of the holder and use it in the hand for interviews. The included 1.5m cable offers sufficient freedom of movement.

Microphone properties

A microphone (colloquially called a mic or mike; both pronounced /ˈmaɪk/) is an acoustic-to-electric transducer or sensor that converts sound into an electrical signal. Microphones are used in many applications such as telephones, tape recorders, karaoke systems, hearing aids, motion picture production, live and recorded audio engineering, FRS radios, megaphones, in radio and television broadcasting and in computers for recording voice, speech recognition, VoIP, and for non-acoustic purposes such as ultrasonic checking or knock sensors.

Capacitor

The condenser microphone, invented at Bell Labs in 1916 by E. C. Wente is also called a capacitor microphone or electrostatic microphone—capacitors were historically called condensers. Here, the diaphragm acts as one plate of a capacitor, and the vibrations produce changes in the distance between the plates.

XLR

The XLR connector is a style of electrical connector, primarily found on professional audio, video, and stage lighting equipment. The connectors are circular in design and have between 3 and 7 pins. They are most commonly associated with balanced audio interconnection, including AES3 digital audio, but are also used for lighting control, low-voltage power supplies, and other applications. XLR connectors are available from a number of manufacturers and are covered by an international standard for dimensions, IEC 61076-2-103. They are superficially similar to the older and smaller DIN connector range, but are not physically compatible with them.
