With the DS series range of fans, the manufacturer is for the first time venturing into an area for which it was not exactly known until now and which has not even represented its ambitions up to now: the Silence market. But for many users, a quiet working and gaming environment has become an important issue alongside colourfulness and good cooling. Aercool has recognized the signs of the times and surprises with the "Dead Silence"-series (DS) in every respect positively!
These fans are exceptional in every respect: they look fantastic and quite unique, they offer extremely low noise emission and they bring along the necessary flow rate, which should have effective case fans. A high-quality fan bearing is important for low-noise operation, nothing else than a Fluid Dynamic Bearing (FDB) is considered here and this is praised by Aerocool with a service life of an impressive 100,000 hours.
But there's a lot more and that's why Aerocool presents DS fans with an externally very stylish and technically superb mixture of classic plastic, which provides torsional rigidity, and rubber, which provides the necessary flexibility. This principle of a "dual material fan" applies on the one hand to the frame, where the rubber components are embedded in the corners as - in this version - white decoupling elements.
Moreover, it continues with the actual rotor and its blades and this is something Aerocool presents that was previously unknown. On the front as coloured stripes on each of the nine fan blades, which absorb wind noise, the complete back of the "fan blades" is also made of rubber and has a golf ball structure that minimises air turbulence. In addition, the blades have a perfectly balanced angle of attack between good performance and low volume.
In combination with the vibration absorbing frame construction including "noise absorption chambers" and the four rubber decouplers supplied, this results in an extremely quiet fan, which nevertheless shines with excellent performance characteristics: These start at the extremely low starting voltage of only 3 volts and end at only 15.8 dB(A) in this 120 mm version when the fan rotates at 12 volts and a full 1200 rpm and transports almost 93 m³/h of air at a static pressure of 1.48 mm H2O.
But that is not the end of the story. Aerocool adds an additional adapter to the DS fan to 7 volts operating voltage, so that the Silent fan generates only 12.1 dB(A) of sound pressure at 800 rpm - and is therefore almost inaudible! The top equipment completes Aerocool additionally with sleeved cables, four standard fan screws and an adapter from 3-pin to 4-pin Molex, so that the black and white 120 mm fan from the "Dead Silence" series can be connected directly to a power supply unit.…more
