    I use two monitors on my computer (not high-quality photo monitors), where I also do photo editing. It was noticeable that the photos on both monitors had very different colours.
    After calibration, these differences have     disappeared and I can be sure that the photos will look as intended when printed or displayed on high-quality displays.

    I chose the x-Rite product because, according to reviews on the internet, it uses glass filters, which are much more stable over time than plastic filters used in other products.

    The calibration process is dictated by a wizard, which makes it trivial to use.

    Compact and reliable.

    It's a big heavy on the price, but it works great.
    I use it with Linux (mostly Ubuntu) and DisplayCAL displaycal.net/ (with ArgyllCMS www.argyllcms.com/).
    I haven't tried the included software yet, so I     can't say how it is.
