The fan is simply glued onto the metal cover. To do this, the grille on the acrylic housing must be broken out. The fan itself consists of a small heat sink with a mini fan screwed into it. It is simply connected to one of the two 5V connections on the LattePanda. This means that it cannot be regulated, but the fan runs very quietly anyway. Since the fan has been working, the problem with overheating and the associated throttling of the clock frequency (throttling) has been solved. The Atom processor gets 85°C hot within a few seconds of operation, and to counteract further overheating, the clock frequency drops to 400 to 500 MHz. This makes the system unusably slow. Since the fan was installed, the CPU temperature no longer exceeds 65°C, even under full load. In order to run the LattePanda smoothly, a cooling solution is an absolute must. This mini fan is an elegant solution.
