    Good product

    Works well, in the meantime there is somewhat newer firmware from Silicon Image. Runs smoothly on Linux with 2 port multipliers (SIL3726) and a total of 8 disks.
    According to ata.wiki.kernel.org/index.php/Hardware,_driver_status#Silico...,     the throughput of the installed controller is practically limited on most systems.
