I was primarily seduced by the VERY narrow screen edge. All in all, it's an excellent monitor that also has an extremely stable stand and a smooth, very stable mechanism for height adjustment. If it is to be operated on edge, this requires a little force (it is stiff), but this is not a shortcoming in terms of stability.

The picture is excellent and evenly illuminated, the black level can be optimally adjusted. It has a few leaks at the edges, but these are only annoying when the screen is black. (REV A.01) Excellent colours with a wide viewing angle.

You can get pretty much everything that's currently available in terms of connections. I use it with the Displayport. (1.2) VGA and DVI inputs are missing.

The USB 3.0 hub is occasionally not recognised when I start the system (Mac and Win8) and connected devices are only available after unplugging and plugging them in again.

Be careful with the Dell Display Manager. Currently, version 1450 is supplied on CD, which is updated online to 1476. The manager is a cool thing, but it has the potential to ruin the whole system. The only thing that helps is to unplug it...

Special and worth mentioning: Display port and USB3 uplink cable are included.

Oh yes: The packaging box looks gigantic. But there is only _one_ monitor inside. Exemplary: everything is made of cardboard :-)

    INFORM WELL BEFORE YOU BUY

I have 3 of them in use and this is my experience since about 3 months: Before you let yourself be tempted by the good reviews, please google a little about this monitor:

    Pro

    • Really thin edges, hardly noticeable
    • Looks extremely chic and classy
    • Super stand, enormous adjustability!
    • No ghosting, good for games
    • Price comparatively fair
    • Very many connections
    • USB 3.0 HUB
    • Anti-reflective without loss of image sharpness

    Contra

    • FINGER AWAY FROM DISPAYPORT, DOESN'T WORK AT ALL (DELL REFUSES TO FIX IT)
    • During display port operation, the monitor randomly gets stuck in sleep mode
    • DP 1.2 Daisychaining does not work at all!
    • With 3 monitors 3 times completely different picture/colours. Had to calibrate all 3 myself
    • sRGB coverage questionable, yellow cast
    • EXTREME IPS glow and light bleeding at the edges (all have this problem)
    • Dell refuses to fix bugs
    • Displayport = fundamentally misconstrued on this model, but Dell says everything is fine
    • The monitor often does not wake up, repeated power cycling remedies the situation (VERY tedious).
    • One of my 3 has a pixel fault

    Very good monitor for working/gaming.

The monitor looks great with its extremely narrow edges. This is a killer criterion for using multiple displays. Top!
The matt screen is also good for working and gaming.

    What
I noticed negatively: The display burns in briefly and only very weakly (flickering), long images appearing on the screen (life display in first-person shooters like Far Cry 4 in my example), (also visible on desktop) and this scared me the first time. I thought it would never go away. But the next day it is no longer visible and everything is as usual.

Another note: The display via Intel or Nvidia graphics cards/chips apparently presents problems via DisplayPort. The RGB colour space is also reduced under HDMI. A solution is described in this review (pcmonitors.info/reviews/dell-u2414h/).

Otherwise, there are no shortcomings and I agree with the previous speakers. I can confirm the problem with the touch buttons, but they are so rarely used that I don't include them in the rating.

Small but nice feature: USB charging port for mobile phones. I almost only charge it there now because it's faster and not treated like a PC memory.

Super elegant screen with a good price/performance ratio. A clear buy recommendation from me and even more so with the current promo!
