The AMD Ryzen 5000 processors are marching in!

AMD has introduced its new Zen 3 architecture that runs the Ryzen 5000 Series. The sale had to be temporarily stopped, please see the status update for more information.

Status update 16.12.2020

For these processors we still expect a delivery this year. The quantity we receive covers 50% of our backorders, you will be informed via your order if you are one of them or not.

For these two models we do not expect any more deliveries this year. The next update will be on 15 January at the earliest.

Status update 20.11.2020

Our supplier has informed us, as suspected, that the delivery date of 20 november cannot be complied. As soon as we know an exact date, we will indicate this on the products.

Status update 13.11.2020

We are in daily contact with the manufacturer AMD and still do not receive any reliable information about the delivery times and quantities of the processors. I would like to give you better news, especially as AMD partner. We suspect that the deliveries will not be kept until november 20th and will only be delivered to us towards the end of the month. I hope that we will receive a reliable delivery date for the AMD Ryzen 5000s by next week - so that we can supply you as soon as possible.

We are releasing the processors for sale again, with the additional information that we are still indicating the delivery date with the status "unknown".

What does this mean for you now?

  • We have limited the maximum order quantity to two pieces (per model) per person. This gives all interested parties a better chance to get their hands on the goods. For customer orders with higher quantities, we will cancel the quantities above two pieces.
  • Unfortunately the delivery dates that are sent to us are also not up to date and accurate. As soon as we receive an update with reliable delivery dates and quantities, we will update this in our system and on this page.

Still valid:

If you have ordered a Ryzen 7 5800X or a Ryzen 9 5900X/5950X, you will receive a Far Cry 6 game code for free. You must redeem the game by 30 January 2021. The first wave will be sent out on 29 november 2020.

We were sold out just 5 minutes after the launch with the initial quantity of AMD Ryzen processors. AMD then asked us to stop the sale. As an official AMD partner, we have done so. In the first delivery just in time for the release, we only received the Ryzen 5600X, although we naturally ordered very large quantities of all CPUs.

The maximum order quantity is limited to two pieces per person. We will check all customer orders accordingly and if these quantities are exceeded we will unfortunately have to cancel them.

A second delivery, which will hopefully include all CPUs, will probably be received in about 15 days, according to information from AMD. If you have already placed an order, you will be automatically informed of your order on the delivery date. As soon as we receive reliable information from AMD, we will inform you via this marketing page and release the products for sale again.

As I am a big fan of PC components myself, I can understand your frustration very well and would like to apologize for any inconvenience caused. We will continue to do our best to supply you with the Ryzen 5000 processors as soon as possible.

On 8 October 8, Dr. Lisa Su, CEO of AMD, presented the new next-generation processors. If you missed the presentation, you can watch it here. The Ryzen 5000 chips, codenamed Vermeer, are designed to deliver higher clock speeds, faster single-core performance and lower latencies. The new lineup remains straightforward with four processors and is led by the 16-core flagship, the « Ryzen 9 5950X».

AMD continues to rely on a 7nm process, but, thanks to the new Zen-3-architecture, baosts a higher clock frequency and much higher IPC values compared to its predecessors. The new layout allows each core to access the L3 cache directly, which is supposed to reduce latency during gaming. I’ve summarised the specs here:

What about the 400 series motherboards?

According to AMD, support for these mainboards will be rolled out within the next year. When the appropriate drivers are available may vary depending on the manufacturer and mainboard model.

I've always loved building computers. In the past, as big as possible and covered in LEDs – today, small and quiet. SFF for the win.
