Showroom update: the latest smartphones on display
Making OnePlus devices available in Switzerland has been no easy task for years. Shortly before Christmas, two models finally found their way into our warehouse and into the hands of their new owners. The 6T features the novelty of an underglass fingerprint sensor but doesn't have a headphone jack. On top of this, it's equipped with a Snapdragon 845 and offers 6 or 8 GB RAM. The battery capacity is 3 700 mAh and the camera manufacturer is Sony. Main camera No. 1 is equipped with 16 MP, f/1.5-2.4 aperture, dual pixel PDAF (Phase Detection Auto Focus) and, last but not least, an optical image stabiliser. Main camera No. 2 features 20 MP, f/2.6 aperture and autofocus. This phone shoots videos in razor-sharp 4K thanks to the kind support of Auto HDR. The OnePlus 6T is number 5 on Antutu’s ranking.
Google Pixel 3 and 3 XL
Although Google ignores Switzerland, our Mobiles team has been able to acquire these devices. The dimensions of the two Pixel 3 versions have hardly changed, but the display size and the notch of the Pixel 3 XL version are new. The smaller version has a screen diagonal of 5.5 inches with a resolution of 2160×1080 pixels; the XL version offers a 6.3" diagonal and 2960×1440 pixels. The newest addition to the Google family runs on Android 9.0 Pie and, as usual, Google provides all Pixel devices with the latest security updates.
Colourful. That’s what they are. These dual SIM mobiles are each equipped with 4 GB RAM and 64 GB memory. The memory is expandable up to 400 GB. A generous 6" HDR display, equipped with BRAVIA TV Technology for the very first time, impresses with 2880 × 1440 pixels. That’s a point density of 538 ppi. Power is provided by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor. The phone runs on Android 9.0 Pie. Its battery capacity is 3,300 mAh. On top of this, the Sony XZ3 boasts a 19 MP Motion Eye camera, which is launched instantly when you hold your phone up in landscape mode.
Xiaomi POCOPHONE F1
Xiaomi's new sub-brand Pocophone is looking to shake up the market. The POCO F1 wears a golden coat and is an affordable mid-range smartphone. This 6.18-inch smartphone with Snapdragon 845 processor, 6 GB RAM, 64 GB/128 GB memory and 4 000 mAh is quite impressive. Since the mobile phone, which was introduced in India, has been available from us, it's been a constant bestseller and is currently rated with 4.5 stars. Looks like you like it, too. The POCOF1 is also available in blue.
Apple iPhone XS, XS Max, XR
Last autumn, Apple introduced three new devices that differ in their size and features. The models XS and XS Max are high-end devices. Both are equipped with an OLED display, a point density of 458 ppi, 4 GB RAM, dual camera and IP68 certification. The iPhone XR is a slimmed-down version, featuring an LCD, a point density of 326 ppi, 3 GB RAM, one main camera and IP67 certification. What all three have in common? Apple A12 Bionic processor, fast charge, main camera with 12 MP and front camera with 7 MP. Dual SIM and expandable memory are not available.
Huawei Mate20 Pro
The Mate 20 Pro didn't feature in Dominik Bärlocher's ranking of 2018's best smartphones. It was simply too good. Huawei's AI genius has a Kirin 980 processor, propelling this phone into the top league. What's more? 6 GB RAM, 4 200 mAh battery, 128 GB memory, underglass fingerprint sensor and a triple cam. It features a wide-angle lens, an ultra-wide-angle lens, a telephoto lens and autofocus. Things start to get especially interesting when it comes to nominal power. Mate20 Pro impresses with 40 MP + 20 MP + 8 MP. Mate20 Pro additionally features a 3D depth-sensing camera. What it does? It’s an AI camera feature that analyses tens of thousands of facial features from the 3D depth-sensing camera. Thanks to artificial intelligence, it then choses the right settings to create perfect portraits. If you're still not convinced and can't get over #greengate: Let me tell you, that's yesterday's news. This phone is currently Antutu's No 1.
Nokia's new mid-range smartphone goes by the name of 7.1. It's a beautifully crafted phone with a dual camera and ZEISS optics, bokeh effect and 3D image processing. You were so keen on this new phone that we managed to convince Nokia to make the 64GB and 4GB RAM versions available on digitec a few weeks after the release. Pure Android fans can look forward to another device with Android One. The platform Android One was originally founded in India in 2014 and designed to focus on the developing markets and entry-level devices to help Android reach the «next billion» users. Four years later, the tactic is to work with new brands and use their mid-range devices to win over users in Europe and North America.
It’s not a smartphone, but...
...why not check out this device. With its Liquid Retina display, the new iPad Pro offers resolutions in the range of 2388 × 1668 and 2732 × 2048 pixels. The WiFi model offers a battery life of ten hours while the 4G model lasts up to nine hours. The following storage capacities are available: 1 TB, 512 GB, 256 GB, 64 GB.
