Samsung Galaxy Tab A: Everyone’s favourite Korean tablet has a successor

«It’s Samsung’s most popular tablet,» Renato, the buyer I use for all my tablets, says. No wonder it’s rated at 4.5 stars. The 2019 version offers a higher display-body ratio and will be leaner and lighter. If you’re looking for a new tablet with solid value for money it’ll certainly be worth a look.

Germany’s Giga Tech is calling the Tab A the «people’s tablet». According to the manufacturer, it’s been a bestseller for the last two years, shifting over one million units to our friends from the north. I’d simply call it a mainstreamer. You can view what makes the Galaxy Tab’s successor so great below. Tab A models are immediately available in black, by the way. Other colours will be available at a later time.

What makes the Tab A great

  • Aluminium single body
  • 16:10 aspect ratio
  • Smaller border
  • TFT display
  • FHD+ resolution
  • 32 GB memory, extendable to 400 GB
  • 6,150 mAh battery
  • 3.5 mm headphone jack
  • USB-C port
  • Dual speakers

Do you know about the kids mode on Samsung smartphones and tablets? If you don’t have kids that regularly use your devices you can skip this paragraph. Unless you have Peter Pan syndrome ;). Samsung’s kids mode allows you to secure your display with a simple setup process. The aim: to keep your kids happy and assure their safety. Anything from control functions to display options are broad and you can even activate a daily usage timer. If you’ve agreed on thirty minutes of daily playtime with your Mini-Me, you can regularly check and restrict the clock. All kids apps come free of charge, by the way.

The more I read about the subject, the more I want to try it out myself. The software covers a wide variety of tastes with four animated characters. For example, preferences for illustration, food, dance, singing and art are all covered. LEGO is also on board. Using games, kids can solve and eventually even learn a bit of maths and natural sciences. Samsung manages to neatly cover all interests, real fun for all the family. From drums and animal sounds all the way to solving your first maths question.
