Available now: microphones by Blue
Blue Microphones was founded in 1995 by an American musician and a Latvian sound engineer. The actual name of the brand has nothing to do with the colour blue, it’s an abbreviation for Baltic Latvian Universal Electronics. We took our time in picking up Blue. But now the time has come, their USB microphones are available. I’ve listed the different versions below. Throughout the year, we’ll expand the range to also offer Pro versions.
Out of these models, we currently carry the Yeti X, Yeti and Yeti nano in our range. The Yeti X is equipped with a four-capsule capacitor array. This can be used to optionally change directional characteristics. It also has a multifunctional knob that controls headphone volume, microphone preamp, crossfade, and mute. The basic Yeti is equipped with three-capsule technology. This means that a total of four directional characteristics are available. Finally, the Yeti nano is the smallest microphone in the series. It has two polar patterns to choose from, cardioid or omnidirectional. All Yeti Series microphones are plug-and-play. According to Blue, the Yeti X is suitable for professional gaming, streaming and podcast applications. The Yeti itself is the ultimate USB microphone for professional recording and the Yeti nano is ideal for podcasts, streaming and video calls.
The series consists of the Snowball and Snowball iCE microphone. Both of them are plug-and-play. The default Snowball is an intuitive USB microphone for all applications. With its dual capsule design, it offers three polar patterns to choose from (cardioid, omnidirectional, and cardioid with a -10 db pad). The Snowball iCE is cardioid. Blue promotes the Snowball series as the fastest and easiest way to get high-quality sound for recording and streaming.
To ensure that you’re optimally equipped, Blue also has microphone accessories. The Blue Compassmicrophone boom allows you to optimally align your microphone. Its swivel arm can be aligned steplessly and in complete silence. The Blue Radius III microphone spider absorbs noise, shocks and vibrations. According to Blue, you can use the microphone spider and stand to install your streaming or podcasting setup perfectly. Blue also has a bundle on offer. With the Blue Yeticaster Pro Broadcast Bundle, you’ll be optimally equipped at home.
If you’re not familiar with microphones, I’ve linked you to Philipp’s’s buying guide. He has tested various microphones and will explain any technical terms.
